Introduced on Classical Piano, raised by Blues and honed by Hip Hop; if you’re new to the musical creations of The Arcitype, get familiar.
New York-born, but a long-time resident of Boston, Massachusetts, Janos Fulop – more commonly known as The Arcitype – is a real rap head’s producer. From the organic influence of his Guitarist Uncle, who gifted him a beat-up Fender Strat as a young deuce, The Arcitype first earned a rep in the Tri-State area music scene by playing to packed houses as part of the Blues/Funk group, Tip Top Deluxe.
Since transferring this deep-rooted love across into Hip Hop production in 2002, though, the craft has only become mastered. Currently signed to AR Classic Records, the New England beatsmith has amounted several prominent Underground names on his production credit sheet: Kool G Rap, Edo. G, Tek (of Smif-N-Wessun), XL and Ruste Juxx (of Boot Camp Clik), to name just a few. Having the creative scope to conceptualise Premo-style boom bap beats, The Alchemist-like soulful harmonies and instrumentals even in manner to Dr. Dre’s G-Funk sound (all with individual flavour, of course), The Arcitype’s collaborations have come about for good reason. There’s no reason to ponder how the man’s music has been featured on respected Hip Hop sites such as XXLMag.com and HipHopDX.com, aswell as being picked up by major broadcasting networks, ESPN and MTV.
“I will say that the feeling of making something completely from scratch that really hits hard is actually more gratifying for me” says The Arcitype on his creative process. “My biggest goal in my sample free work is to try to make people think there is a sample in it, or for it to just be so hot it doesn’t matter.” To fully educate people on this matter, the producer hooked up with Toshiki Yashiro, giving insight into how he gets the work done. Check the footage below.
For the man who proclaims life as a Hip Hop producer never stops, The Arcitype’s future plans reflect just that. We can expect to hear his dope production appear on Dominik Omega’s ‘This Moment In Time’ (due July 26), Carolina Black’s upcoming ‘Songs In The Key of Black’ album and Duck Down Records artist, Promise’s forthcoming release. The grind never halts.
